Adelaide is the capital city of the state of South Australia, the fifth largest city in Australia, and one of the most popular places to go on holiday in the country. It is situated on the Adelaide Plains, between Gulf St. Vincent and Mount Lofty Ranges.

Named in honor of Queen Adelaide, the consort of King William IV, this city was founded in 1836 as capital of the only freely-settled British province in Australia. The settlement was shaped by religious and political freedom that led to many reforms. The area has a mild Mediterranean climate, meaning that most of the rainfall occurs in winter. Frosts are rare and usually there is no appreciable snowfall, excepting Mount Lofty's region and some places in the Adelaide Hills, a tourist area with plenty of accommodations providing shelter to winter sports enthusiasts. However, holidays in Adelaide are unforgettable at any time of the year, reason why most of its hotels are crowded and finding a free room in the peak season is generally a pretty difficult task.
